Energy Week 2017

Since 2005 Energy Week has been educating the public on sustainable use of energy and energy access.

Last year’s theme ‘Increasing access to clean energy to enable industrialisation and attainment of middle income status’ was a popular event with over 100 key stakeholders participating and education the public.

The Week is a good opportunity for organisations and companies to market and sell energy products, technologies and services directly to the public. It also serves to meet the Government’s commitment to providing energy for social and economic development in a sustainable manner.

Collaborating  with the Ministry on 12 & 13 September will have a lasting impact on the strategic direction of the country’s energy policy, showcase products and services that will support the industry and inform and educate the public on access and energy efficiency.

To further shine a spotlight on the matter of energy usage in the Ugandan community, a documentary entitled One Glorious Day - Solar energy in Uganda was created. The Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (PREEEP) is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. PREEEP works under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development to promote sustainable use of energy for social economic empowerment, increased access to renewable energy, and efficient utilization of the existing energy resources.
